What is a buzzword? Last year the definition of buzzword shifted drastically and became fixated with the phenomenon that would instill excitement, rage and righteousness amidst the pandemic. So what is the buzzword after a year? I suppose it could be about Harry Styles redefining (or should I say? refining) the masculinity, the protests for humanity, rights, the sudden rise of online thrift stores? Or the Sex and the City rebooting just like that…
Hold on this isn’t about discussing the plot of the reboot or anything. But we have to agree to the fact that the premises of both of the shows (SATC and the other reboot that has been going around the town (xoxo, anyone?) set around Manhattan would welcome back the rush and the speed of uber-metropolitan lives.
We paused, reflected and debated the hiatus our lives took for ourselves and everyone around us. This seemed like the break we needed from everything that went on in our lives. But here’s what the SATC trailer ‘...and Just like that’ portrayed (watch it here: ) Manhattan in it’s full prime, people rushing to make sure their seconds and steps are timed. The pace is picked, buckle up folks!
Does this mean we should be open to hug the speed that once dominated (rather dictated) our lives? Well, that depends on how you decide to see the past year. Human life was never meant to stop and constantly evolve and maybe Carrie Bradshaw and her gang did not know how to stop. It would be quite insightful (and challenging) to see the blogger/columnist/author, as the symbol of the concrete jungle for once to slow down and embrace everything that has been around her all this time.
So raise this glass for the routine that we missed, the rush that made our heartbeat skip a beat, the footsteps that never ran only jumped (or even lunged!) in directions that would be a symbol of the life that was on pause.
But again, habits die hard and some questions would still linger; that might make us re-focus on slowing down and listening to our wellness. It would be like a vicious cycle but haven’t we learned our lessons? Even for a slightest moment one must not forget to be conscious. It’s a constant battle and the true survival of the fittest. One can only hope and pray not to lose oneself!
