Hello, hello, hello! If you are not anywhere aware, let me tell you that the pageant season is upon us. Pageant season excites us and the contestants alike. The whole process of getting everything in one place streamlined is very essential- for example when the contestants are pondering over their evening gowns, we, as audience, are just making sure our television sets and internet connections are working well.
So buckle your sequins and tulles, as we deep dive into the styles you should consider while planning your big moment of evening gown on the stage or for other events.
Stay stay stay...Metallics stay!
From the colorful decade of mid 2000s, metallic tones like gold, silver, (copper- a new addition) have made a special place for themselves in the pageant stage. With many national winners opting for metallics shows that everyone might just want to have their own moment on the stage as if they were the centre of the universe. Iconic names like Ariadna Gutierrez, Gabriela Isler and Paulina Vega have made silver a choice of an epic performance.

Vintage Necklines
Sophistication has been long associated with vintage styles. The strapless necklines or the Sweetheart necklines have taken a backseat as the good old vintage styles like the halter, cross halter and simple one strap shoulder necklines have made a comeback. This effect comes after a long usage of corseted bodices that dominated the pageant stages prior to 2019.

Fuller Skirts
When our own Zozibini Tunzi said take up space, our sweet contestants decided to show it up on stage with styles that occupy physical space. The ballgown and it’s variation are swiftly making their own mark by being momentous, powerful and sweet at the same time.

Adorning Feathers
Feathers were not far away from pageants as the international runways are already adding feathers (synthetic as they say) in every item possible. Done to have volume on the gown, consider faux feathers next to intricate embroidery detailing.
A tiny note: Fringe detailing is also a great detail to have on. If you want something that sways as you move, Fringes are your thing. Feathers give the garment needed bounce.

Drapery
With gowns becoming heavier, draped gowns help in achieving that seamless elegance. Even if the gown is given a corseted bodice or the upper part- having a draped skirt makes it easier and light on the stage.

The events of the pandemic have truly made us weave each moment of magic, color and passion ours to own and to see the mood of gowns, we might sway away from the usual minimalism that were the simple columnar details. Gowns, here on, may have one or more than one detail to emphasize the showy aspect.
